Oscars 2015: Best Dressed

The red carpet Oscars style countdown is here. So many beautiful gowns and people, but I have narrowed it down to four of the best dressed this year.

1. Jennifer Lopez

Jlo stepped out in nude and sparkling in an Ellie Saab number. So stunning.

image

2. Emma Stone
Another Ellie Saab gown. Very perky color choice by Stone.
But what I really love about the gown is the her hair ensemble

image

3. Meryl Streep

She just gets more graceful as the years pass by. And her pant suit by Lanvin just adds to her charm.

4. Reese Witherspoon

I love this black and white simple dress. Witherspoon keeps it classy with this Tom Ford gown.

Hello fellow carnelians..!

Grammy’s last night. So I’m not here to tell you who won and why or why not.

The red carpet verdict is out..!!

Top three best best dressed according to the carnelian cloak

1. Rihanna

How does she manage to always make to my red carpet lists??

Rihanna looks like a bad girl gone good with her Giambattista Valli gown in beautiful shades of pink and peach.

2. Taylor Swift

I may not be a big fan of her music, but her blue gown and pink heels ensemble gets a big thumbs up from me. Gown courtesy Ellie Saab

3. Gwen Stefani

I, to be honest, almost didn’t recognize her without her signature red lips.

She appeared with a classic black Versace jumpsuit. LOVE IT

What say?? Who else do you think deserves to be in the top three??

Golden Globe: Best Dressed 2015

Like every year I do a best dressed post for the Golden Globe red carpet. But this year, giving a miss to those flowy gowns and repeats, we have Lorde and Emma Stone.

Every magazine and tabloid is talking about them being the best dressed. Wearing pants?? whaaat?? I am so in love with this trend. Let’s hope others take a cue and totally make this a new red carpet trend.

Not only were these two gorgeous women bold and different, but they redefined grace and femininity.

LORDE tops my list with a 10/10 from me.

1421020416_lorde-zoom

She wore a custom Narciso Rodriguez, and like that wasn’t enough she pairs it up with a beautiful Cleopatra neckpiece. To complete it she pulled her hair back and went bold with her red lip stain. There is nothing I’d like to change about that outfit.

EMMA STONE is a close second with 9/10 from me.

Well I know what you’re thinking, it’s unfair. But let’s talk about her outfit. She wore a Lanvin look. The sash has totally added the feminine touch needed with those trousers. And the bustier adds the right amount of glamour. Though the breezy hair with a clip is a favorite, But lets face it the hair could have been more sophisticated.

NAOMI WATTS is a bonus on my best dressed list. Though she went with the conventional gown wearing, her colour choice was rather unconventional. So she comes third with an 8.5/10 from me.

72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Her yellow Gucci gown sure is a welcome change on the red carpet.  Simple yet elegant.

What do you think?? Who else did you think deserved to be in the top three slot? Write to me or leave your comments below.

Oscar De La Renta : A Tribute

This week has been a rather sad week for the fashion industry and everyone across the globe. For this week we bid farewell to one of the most talented fashion icons, Oscar De La Renta.

As a tribute to this Icon, The Carnelian Cloak has shortlisted five of his best red carpet masterpieces.

1.) Sarah Jessica Parker, Met Gala 2014

One of my personal favorites, has made an appearance in my previous post as well.

See- https://thecarneliancloak.wordpress.com/2014/05/12/met-gala-14/

It has such a 50’s feel, and SJP carries it with perfect poise. The signature at the gown’s trail makes it an exclusive quirk.

2.) Amy Adams, Oscar 2013

Remember how you always wanted to dress up and step out looking like Cinderella did in the fairy tale?

Guess what? Amy Adams did just that. She wore this dreamy De La Renta gown last year to the Academy Awards.

And maybe we have ourselves a Prince Charming too??

3.) Anne Hathaway, Tony Awards 2009

This is like a cute cross between a bad ass prom dress and a ball gown skirt. Anne Hathaway does it justice with red heels and simple makeup.

4.) Emma Watson, Harry Potter Premier 2012

Watson reminds you of a pixie with this gown. The pairing up with a white tailored jacket gives a definite edge.

5.) Zooey Deschanel, Golden Globe 2013

Zooey came dressed with a Oscar red gown paired with a string of pearls, accessorized with such grace.

One of the simple yet gorgeous gowns.

These were some of my favorites from his many many breathtaking creations. We will miss him spinning magic on and off the red carpet. RIP Oscar.
