Diy ripped jeans

Hi folks..!

So I’ve wanted a pair of distressed jeans since forever. So I finally got off my butt and I decided to take it up as my diy project.

It’s very simple, and though I have not recorded a tutorial. The end results were pretty neat.

Hopefully I’ll be doing this again soon.

Here’s what it looked like

Tell me if you would be interested in a tutorial. I’d be more than happy to upload one.

Runway to street wear: three takeaways from Lakme Fashion Week

So the Lakme Fashion Week closed, showcasing the best design talent in the country. But for people like you and me, there is more than just admiration that we can show.

For the ones looking for simple and fresh trends for street style, LFW is not to be dismissed due to lack of non couture inspiration. Here I list the three things every girl next door can take away from this weeks fashion show:

1. Shivan and Naresh: Color Blocking

These designers brought out the fresh and bold look with major color blocking on their runway designs for cruise resort wear. Adding a twist with their cat eyewear.

IMG_20150323_093716

One trend which will definitely not be hard to inculcate for street wear. We are talking about color blocking on shirts, wide legged trousers and even bags. Go for bold and bright summer hues.

And I’m sure most of us have mastered the look with cat eyeglasses.

2. Sabyasachi : Vintage Florals
Now crop tops and skirts have taken the world by storm, but what is even better than this plain combo is the combo in vintage florals.

IMG_20150323_093730
Subtle yet elegant. Paired with pastel pair of heels for the right look for any day event.

3. Anamika Khanna : Warrior Princess
This was the finale for the fashion week and was royal and pristine in every true sense. But there is something to be picked up from this unique ensemble.

Monochromatic intricate outfits, matched with a dark lip stain and bold jewellery. This is the right time to indulge in body chains, head chains, bold chunky earrings and earcuffs.

I hope you folks like the blog post and the takeaways from LFW.

A Love Affair with PLAID

The cold winters are here. We are nearing the end of the year. And the one trend that never gets old is Plaid.

I love my red plaids more than anything else. And that’s what I chose for a cold winter morning, adding the much needed style to the drab All black Corporate attire.

How are you wearing your plaid?

Have a lovely warm day.

Midi rings : the new obsession

Move over statement rings, there is new accessory in town. My new obsession and everyone’s favorite: The Midi Rings.

I bought a few of these recently, and boy am I loving them. There is no one way to wear them. Lots of colors, wear them one at a time or all at once, they are the perfect way to dress up your hands.

Here is me beating the Monday Morning blues with a manicure and these cute midi rings.

NY Fashion Week : Pastels ruling the runway

It’s that time of the year again when NYC hosts its Fashion Week. And though there have been some really amazing designers, the ones that stood out were Prabal Gurung and Rebecca Taylor.

With pastel tints and shades and interesting prints and eye catching cuts, Gurung presents a great show.

00370h_240x360

Being a Nepalese, his inspiration for these prints were from the Great Himalayas.

00210h_240x360 00140h_240x360

He has also introduced his line of footwear featuring strappy stilettos, which were multicoloured and inspired from his favorite artists.

00340h_240x360

Rebecca has been an all time favorite. For spring ’15 she has used pinks, blues and lilacs.

Much like Gurung, Taylor has used interesting prints. But she has used far more tailoring than the former did. But then again you expect nothing less than sophistication from Rebecca Taylor.

00040h_240x360 00050h_240x360 00110h_240x360 00200h_240x360 00260h_240x360

Her inspiration for her choice of her collection’s palette was different from Gurung. She has played on ideas of feminity and romanticism to bring ruffles and tailored trousers on the same stage.

Both designers seem to love the florals though.

Prabal Gurung

I have loved both these different perspectives at the spring ’15 runway.

What do you think of the two?

you think pastels are here to stay?

maybe knock florals off altogether?

Let us know.

Floral makes a Spring come back

Spring-Summer season is upon us once again and here we are getting our florals out. I am in agreement that nothing says the end of winter like florals. and here is Alberta Feretti proving me right.

She says her Spring Summer ’14 collection was inspired by the countries and cultures that followed the sun. Well, her creations are no less than a reflection of that.

With white cottons and floral work.

THE BAMBOO BAG

First introduced during the Second World War due to scarce resources, the Gucci Bamboo Bag is one unique style statement that has never gone out of season. The Bamboo Bag saw its peak at popularity during the 1950s and 1960s.

They come in two variants and many brilliant colors.

The big spacious carry all:

The classic small handbag:
